Please note: the connection made by a needle adapter is derived from an interference fit.

3. To access the NIS connector: Swab silicone seal in accordance with facility protocol.

 4. To attach to luer: Holding the NIS, position the male connector so that the male connector will be pushed straight into the NIS using a twisting motion, as shown.

  • Do not attempt to insert the male connector at an angle.
  • Do not pry open the slit in the NIS.
  • If using a male lock luer, do not over tighten the luer lock.
  • Do not insert needles into the valve port

5. To disconnect from NIS: Grasp NIS and the male connector and twist the male connector counter-clockwise, then pull away from NIS.

6. Swab the NIS connector with alcohol after each use, in accordance with facility protocol.

7. Capping is optional, as the NIS closes and seals once a connector is removed.

8. Repeat as needed.
